SADDLERS striker Darren Byfield ended his three-and-a-half month goal-drought in dramatic fashion with a last-gasp winner.
Walsall looked to have held on for a hard-earned point against play-off chasing Colchester, having been forced to see out the entire second-half with just ten men.
However, it got even better for Chris Hutchings' side as Byfield grabbed a long-awaited goal.

COLCHESTER United boss Aidy Boothroyd still believes his side can gain automatic promotion.
Following three games without a win, the U's have slipped to sixth in the League One table ahead of today's trip to an equally out-of-form Walsall (3pm).

The manager faces off with his former Huddersfield boot boy at the Banks's Stadium tomorrow with the visitors gunning for promotion.

Walsall manager Chris Hutchings has confirmed striker Troy Deeney will not face disciplinary action following his outburst at Leyton Orient last weekend.
The Saddlers frontman labelled the performance "embarrassing" after the 2-0 defeat and went on to question the commitment and desire of some of his team-mates.
Assistant manager Martin O'Connor subsequently criticised the striker for the unprofessional way in which he aired his views in public.

Hull chairman Adam Pearson appointed Iain Dowie as new boss only after overtures to Terry Venables, Mark Hughes, Avram Grant and Alan Curbishley were rejected.
After turning to Dowie, Pearson immediately turned away again.
Had Dowie (right) said no, Chris Hutchings was the next name on his list of targets.

Chris Hutchings today insisted Alex Nicholls has a major part to play up front after the striker's recent revival.
Speculation had been mounting over the 22-year-old's future after he struggled to claim a regular starting berth.
But Nicholls has fought his way back into the starting line up and the boss says his patience has finally paid off.
